Q: What is the dress code for the Ceremony?

A: Dress code is cotton or linen, Earth tone long-sleeved button-down shirt & long pants for Men (think yoga shirt, loose and comfortable / drawstring pants) - For Women, Earth tone flowing yoga-style clothes. No spandex please. Dresses are acceptable but not required. No White please! Comfortable shoes for both - this is an outside event with outdoor activities.

Q: What is the dress code for the Pre and post days celebration?

A: Dress code is casual. Come as you are for a relaxed time - (No Birthday Suits unless you're the Best Man)

Q: What time should I arrive?

A: This is a 3 day event. Please see the Home Page for details. Check back frequently as these may change!

Q: Can I bring a plus-one or children?

A: Please contact the Bride or Groom for Plus One arrangements.

Food & Drink

Q: Will meals, snacks and drinks be provided?

A: Yes! pre and post Ceremony days will have a light lunch, snacks, drinks and alcohol provided. The Ceremony day will be a fully-catered event. Please let us know in advance if you have any food related allergies, or require special accommodations for dietary restrictions. There is a small general store in town within walking distance to purchase any additional items.

Q: Is there a pre-wedding or post-wedding event?

A: Yes! A pre-wedding gathering is scheduled the day before, and a day-after post-ceremony get together will be held to wrap up the weekend. Both are casual and relaxed, with food, drinks, and fun activities.

Q: Will there be dancing or music?

A: Absolutely! Music and dancing will begin during the reception, first dance, and post-ceremony until the end of the evening on Wedding Day.

Q: Are there water activities?

A: Yes! The property is located on Lake Hebron, and has a private swimming dock. Please bring your towels and swim gear if you'd like a once in a lifetime opportunity to swim in a mountain lake. There are also kayaks, and access to a private pontoon boat throughout the day - Don't miss the boat for a sight-seeing cruise! (Pirates ONLY)

Q: Can I fish?

A: Yes you can! We have limited fishing gear available, so please bring your own if you're a Pro (Matt Bates) - We will have several outings on the pontoon boat and plenty of time to fish from our private dock - REQUIREMENT: GROOM MUST BE ALLOWED PICTURE WITH BIGGEST CATCH OF THE WEEKEND AND RECEIVES FULL BRAGGING RIGHTS FOR SAID CATCH.

Q: What other activities are there?

A: Tons! Archery, foosball, dancing, swimming, boating, kayaking, and nearby hiking & waterfalls (transportation not included)

About the venue

Q: What's the venue like?

A: The venue is a family-built and owned cottage on several acres of Birch and Pinewood forest, located just 75 feet from the gorgeous Lake Hebron in the middle of the mountains in Monson, Maine. Please see "The Cottage" and "Experience" pages on this website for more information & history. This is a fully-outdoor event! Please wear comfortable shoes and note the terrain is grass/rock, so please plan accordingly. The property is relatively remote though there is a general store and gas station within a walkable distance. Other than the Shaws Hiker Hostel, and some cabins/AirBNBs, there is no lodging available in Monson. ***Please contact the Bride or Groom prior to booking lodging*** The cottage is available ONLY to access the restroom facilities, and for use by the Wedding Party.

Q: Where is the venue located and is parking available?

A: The venue address will be provided with your RSVP Invitation. You can also reach out to the Bride or Groom. Please keep this address private :) LIMITED parking is available. *Please arrange accommodations prior to the event with the Bride or Groom if parking or transportation is needed*

Q: Are there lodging accommodations at the venue?

A: There are no lodging accommodations at the Wedding Venue. Please see the "Travel" page for local lodging options. If you are needing assistance with lodging, please contact the Bride or Groom and say whether or not you are open to shared AirBNB type accommodations (private rooms for each couple, shared home space) *Please contact the Bride or Groom PRIOR to booking any lodging accommodations*

Q: Is there transportation to/from the venue from my hotel and/or airport?

A: At this time, NO transportation to/from the Wedding Venue, airport, or your hotel is provided. Any group lodging/AirBNB's booked by the Bride and Groom will have transportation to/from the Wedding Venue each day. If you are needing assistance with lodging or transportation, please contact the Bride or Groom. Transportation to/from the airport will need to be arranged on a case by case basis with all guests and the Bride/Groom. Group transportation to/from the airport is subject to change depending on RSVP. Check back frequently for updates.

Q: Is there cell service?

A: The property is relatively remote. Some cell service providers have limited service in this area. Verizon carriers should be fine. There is WiFi internet access on the property.

Q: Is the wedding accessible?

A: The venue is not easily wheelchair accessible, though possible. The venue is at a property in a wooded area with dirt/grass/rock terrain. All events will be held outside and wheelchair or special accommodations can be met for seating. You will require assistance to use restroom facilities in the cottage.

Q: Can I take photos or videos?

A: Please do! Guests are welcome & encouraged to take photos during the ceremony and reception, but PLEASE RESPECT any instructions from the Event Photographer or Wedding Party.
